About PADELPRIV

A place of their own for local players

Until we opened, Peterlee had no padel courts. The nearest were half an hour away, and as venues appeared elsewhere it became obvious the town deserved its own.

So we built one: a converted industrial unit with 10 to 12 metres of clear height, three courts to a single standard, and a social space that feels more like a members' lounge than a leisure centre. Except there's no membership. Turn up, book, play.

What is padel?

Tennis meets squash. Easy to pick up, hard to put down.

The world's fastest-growing racket sport. Played in pairs on an enclosed court about a third the size of a tennis court, with glass and mesh walls that are part of the game.

No racket background needed. Beginners are rallying within minutes; experienced players find more depth and strategy the longer they play. That's why every age, fitness level and background is taking it up.

Bounce it, then hit below waist height. No overhead serving, no aces to fear.

The glass and mesh keep points alive, so the game is full of clever shots rather than long sprints.

Turn up and we'll make you comfortable from the moment you arrive. If you're new, we'll walk you through the rules and give you simple pointers so the first rallies come quickly. Rackets and balls are here if you need them.
